Managing Director

After graduating with a BSc in Agriculture from Newcastle University, Ian joined Yara (UK) in 2005, where he held the post of Company Agronomist until June 2016. Ian was appointed to the Board as Arable Director in May 2016 and in April 2019 took over the role of Managing Director from Charles. He is responsible for managing the business and its relationship with clients. He is BASIS and FACTS certified and is keen to see best use of precision farming, combined with careful variety selection and input use to deliver optimum sustainable economic yields.

Richard Nobby Stiles

Arable Foreman

Richard (Nobby) gained a diploma in agriculture at Moulton College. He joined Brixworth Farming from founding shareholder W F Saunders & Partners in 2000 and has been an integral part of Brixworth Farming ever since. Promoted to Arable Foreman in 2017, Nobby has the great responsibility of ensuring all farm operations take place in an efficient and timely way. He is highly qualified gaining a basis qualification in 2021.

Mark Jelley

Mark Jelley

Arable Operator

Mark joined us in Autumn 2021 as lead sprayer operator from a successful nearby farming estate. This role involves maintaining accurate stock records while working with our agronomists. Having over 40 years’ experience operating crop sprayers of all sizes he has become an integral part of the Brixworth Farming team. In 2019 Mark was runner up in the Farm Sprayer Operator of the Year, after which he gained the BASIS Foundation qualification in 2021.

Arable Operator

Charles joined the team in Spring 2020 as a placement student from Harper Adams University. Joining in a turbulent year during the pandemic, Charles stepped up to lead the spraying operations and in summer 2021, he took on the role of lead combine operator, responsible for managing the harvest alongside Richard. Returning to Harper Adams, to finish his degree after a successful 15-month placement, Charles joined Brixworth Farming as a fulltime arable operator with a Bsc in Agriculture.

Kane Clow

Placement Student

Kane joined the team in Spring 2021 on a placement from Harper Adams University where he studies Agriculture. He has been involved in all arable operations including taking on the role of second sprayer operator where he works closely with the lead operator to ensure accurate and timely applications of plant protection products. Not coming from a farming background, Kane started his career at 16 years old and has worked hard to gain the experience he has today.

Mark Turney

Mark Turney

Arable Operator (Part-time)

Mark Turney farms at Park Farm, Brixworth in partnership with his father, Richard. After graduating from Harper Adams University, Mark worked in the construction industry and gained an additional qualification in carpentry before returning to the family farm. Mark runs the family farm business as well as providing back-up operations to support Brixworth Farming.

Julie Blason

Julie Blason

Accounts Manager

Julie is another long-standing member of Brixworth farming who joined in 2001 and is responsible for the company’s financial management, including sales/purchase ledger, payroll, VAT, monitoring of cash flow and budget. Julie prepares the annual accounts and finance reports for monthly meetings and is responsible for inputting and reconciliation of all crop records.

Sarah Harris

Sarah Harris

Accounts Administrator (Part-Time)

Sarah Harris is a self-employed bookkeeper providing part time assistance to Julie in managing the day-to-day bookkeeping and accounts administration, inputting data for benchmarking programs, and general office duties. Sarah also works closely with everyone within the business by being a call or message away should any information from her department be needed, providing along with Julie, well organised documentation of all necessary farm data.

Our small team of full time staff are supported throughout the year by directors and shareholders as necessary. During the busy periods, particularly from July to September/October, support is also drawn each year from neighbouring farmers, students and others.
